The starting point for you to contribute to the important work of monitoring rare plants is training!
New volunteer training workshops are announced each winter and held each spring in March and April. Sessions last from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and include classroom instruction and field exercises to familiarize volunteers with our protocol. These training sessions are held in different locations across our monitoring region in each year. Look for the announcement here and on our Opportunities page. Group monitoring forays can serve as field training for enthusiastic volunteers who were not able to attend a workshop in a given year, but a workshop must be attended in the following year.
Full day GPS training workshops are occasionally offered, which provides volunteers with additional, intensive instruction on using GPS units for rare plant monitoring. These sessions will also be listed on the Opportunities page.
